What is Social Networking?
Explaining what Social Networking IS can be described in
the most vague of terms.
"A Social Network is a social structure made up of
individuals or organizations, businesses or groups which
are connected by one or more specific types of
interests."
More commonly, ask a teenager and they would tell you
it's Facebook, LinkedIn, Classmates.com, Foursquare,
MeetUp, MySpace, myYearBook, Twitter, and Yelp... just
to (literally) name a few.
What makes these a marketers dream is how a business can
utilize these platforms to promote your products,
services, and events.
In most cases, Social Networking sites are "free" to
belong. Where the expense comes in is custom designing
pages not to mention the time investment to keeping up
with the constant wave of activity.
It's fast, it's dynamic, and it's widely popular. And
it's also a great way for businesses to interact with
users... your most loyal and favorite fans.
